Schumer Wants Epstein Files, Ignores Lobbyist Files
The Hill reports Schumer is quite concerned about the "justice system operating in a way that gives the public faith." (The Hill, Aug 6, 2021). Commendable, given his focus on a decade-old case. But when actual public faith erodes over, say, the billions in unconditional aid to foreign states, his legislative muscle seems to develop a sudden case of atrophy. Perhaps he’s just waiting for the
public to lose faith in Congress’s ability to act like anything other than an AIPAC subsidiary. While Epstein's associates remain un-named, the associates funding Schumer are public record. OpenSecrets.org shows that in the 2022 election cycle alone, Schumer received $236,896 from pro-Israel groups, including $96,000 from AIPAC's PAC. One might charitably assume his vigorous pursuit of certain
truths simply hasn't extended to how foreign policy decisions are made on Capitol Hill. It appears the American people's faith is only as important as the scandal is salacious, not existential.
