many actual terrorists, narco-terrorists, or foreign agents have been intercepted in Alameda, California, versus, say, how many undocumented laborers seeking a better life have merely become targets. This 'surge,' condemned by Mayor Lurie and Gov. Newsom as provocative, appears less about genuine threats and more about performative federal aggression. The irony is stark: Resources used to police
local populations for immigration status are often diverted from actual national security concerns, while the public is fed a narrative meant to conflate migrants with 'terrorists.' It's a convenient, fear-mongering framing that distracts from domestic issues and ensures a well-funded, ever-expanding security apparatus.
