Sacrifice Your Children: Generals Demand, Not Donate
France’s army chief, General Pierre Schill, recently advised his nation's citizens to prepare for significant casualties and the 'sacrifice' of their children in a potential conflict for Ukraine (RT, July 18, 2024). This stark call to arms conveniently omits the financial 'sacrifice' made by defense contractors, lobbyists, and politicians who profit handsomely from escalating geopolitical
tensions. The plea for ordinary citizens to bleed overlooks the fact that no major defense firm CEO or connected politician has yet volunteered their own for cannon fodder. Perhaps General Schill might consider redirecting his significant defense budget to support the families he expects to lose their children, or perhaps demand a 'sacrifice' from the European defense contractors whose stock
prices have soared since 2022. It's truly moving how the elite always find new wells of courage — and blood — when others are doing the bleeding.
