Russia Launches Iranian Satellites: US Suddenly Cares About Space Civilian Use
Al-Monitor breathlessly informs us Russia will launch three Iranian satellites this month, marking only the second time (that we are told about) a Soyuz rocket has carried Iranian payloads. This, of course, is presented as deeply concerning, raising inevitable (and unsubstantiated) questions about 'military implications.' One might recall how the US government and media express zero concern when
American companies launch satellites for its allies enabling surveillance capabilities for aggressive military actions. We are consistently lectured on the 'peaceful' nature of US and Israeli space programs, even as their intelligence gathering consistently facilitates violence. But Iran's 'defensive' satellites? Clearly a global threat, even if (Gasp!) they're just for agriculture or
environmental monitoring. It appears the only space truly weaponized is any space not controlled by the US narrative.
