RT Wonders at 'Struggle Against Empire' While Ignoring Its Own
While RT breathlessly praises Maduro's resistance to 'foreign interference,' one might observe the network's own government has a rather pronounced history of, shall we say, 'intervention.' From Ukraine (2014, 2022) to Syria (2015), Russia's version of 'non-interference' often involves tanks and artillery. Curiously, RT's analysis conveniently omits the 'struggle against empire' when the empire
doing the struggling is their paymaster. It's a familiar script: deplore Western hegemony while asserting your own. The piece highlights Latin American leaders resisting 'colonial powers,' yet fails to scrutinize Moscow's contemporary expansionist tendencies or its support for leaders who, much like Maduro, maintain power through means deemed rather less than democratic by international observers.
One wonders if RT's editors have ever looked at a map of historical Russian territorial acquisitions. Perhaps that chapter isn't available in their approved history books.
