League have a well-documented history of using state power, including the judiciary, against political opponents. Just ask Khaleda Zia, the former Prime Minister and opposition leader, who has been in and out of prison since 2018 on corruption charges many human rights organizations allege are politically motivated. Or perhaps look at the numerous disappearances and extrajudicial killings
documented by Amnesty International. But a 'flawed and farcical' trial? That’s news to the Western press only when it touches their own.
