This convenient amnesia allows Washington and its media proxies to sidestep any uncomfortable truths about the region. What they won't tell you is that this isn't an isolated incident, but rather a direct echo of policies that have
destabilized the Middle East for generations, a legacy of intervention and betrayal. The US military-industrial complex and its Saudi partners have a long history of sowing chaos. During the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988), for instance, the US covertly backed Saddam Hussein, even as his forces used chemical weapons supplied by Western companies, a horrific fact routinely omitted from simplistic
narratives. Now, any blowback from their continued presence and egregious support for unchecked aggression in Yemen and Palestine is recast as unprovoked, radical terrorism.
