Reuters Journalist Injured, 'Unprovoked Attack' Frame Persists
When masked Israeli settlers, armed with clubs, assault Palestinian farmers and even an international journalist during an olive harvest ( The Independent ), mainstream media calls it an 'attack.' What they consistently fail to report is that these aren't random acts of violence; they are a feature, not a bug, of Israel's half-century occupation policy. Since 2006, the UN has documented over 5,000
settler attacks in the West Bank, often occurring with Israeli military escort or explicit inaction. This isn't 'conflict'; it's state-sanctioned land theft by other means. We're told to be shocked each time, yet the pattern is predictable: settlers expand, Palestinians resist, violence erupts, and the world offers condemnation that never translates into meaningful action. How many journalists
need to be beaten, how many olive trees uprooted, before we stop pretending this is anything less than an intentional campaign to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land? One might wonder how many 'unprovoked attacks' it takes to realize the provocation is the occupation itself.
