Republicans 'Grapple' With Healthcare, Not Their Own Sabotage
When Maryland Rep. Andy Harris, a seven-term Republican and Freedom Caucus leader, faced a constituent's question about soaring premiums for her disabled cousin, his answer was a masterclass in obfuscation: 'We think the solution is to try to do something to make sure all the premiums go down,' followed by hopes for a future 'off-ramp.' This from a party that has voted over 70 times to repeal,
defund, or otherwise undermine the Affordable Care Act since its passage in 2010. Their 'dilemma' is less about finding solutions and more about feigning surprise at the consequences of their consistent efforts to destabilize the very system they now claim to be concerned about. Perhaps House Republicans, like Speaker Mike Johnson captured in the accompanying photo during a government shutdown
(presumably over spending cuts that inevitably impact social programs), could consult their own voting records. Or maybe they just need a refresher on cause and effect. It's truly baffling, isn't it, how sabotaging a car makes it run less efficiently? Who could have seen this coming?
