Republicans Decry 'Paramilitary ICE', Forget Own Surveillance State

This supposed 'break with Trump' conveniently overlooks decades of bipartisan expansion of surveillance and enforcement agencies. When did the GOP *not* champion increased funding and militarization for border and internal security forces? One might wonder if their outrage is
less about 'paramilitarism' and more about who's holding the leash. This selective amnesia extends to their own legislative history. These are often the same voices who rubber-stamp massive defense budgets and domestic surveillance measures, only to recoil when the chickens come home to roost on policies they themselves enabled. It's not a 'paramilitary ICE' that shocked them; it's the optics of
it being uncomfortably close to home.
