Politico Buries Pramila Jayapal's Medicare For All Push (Again)
Politico dutifully reports that Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) is leveraging new polling data to push for Medicare for All. Shockingly, Americans continue to support universal healthcare, a policy opposed by the very corporations funding much of Washington. This 'news' surfaces just after the House approved another $17.6 billion in military aid to Israel (Roll Call Vote 50, Feb. 6, 2024), a package
supported by 366 members, including Jayapal, that prioritizes foreign military spending over domestic health. One might wonder if Politico, or any mainstream outlet, reports on the polling data showing American support for endless wars with similar enthusiasm. Or perhaps the 'viability' of universal healthcare is solely judged by the lobbyists who benefit from its absence, rather than the millions
who suffer under our current system. How many 'last warnings' will it take for basic human rights to become a policy priority?
