The article offers vague justifications, but omits the glaring context: on February 13, 2024, the Senate passed HR 815, allocating $95 billion in foreign aid, including $14 billion in new military assistance to Israel. Just weeks prior, Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) received $27,511 from
pro-Israel groups during the 2020 election cycle ( OpenSecrets.org ), and she voted overwhelmingly for HR 815. One might charitably wonder why a nation struggling with domestic issues needs 1,500 troops mobilized for an unnamed crisis at home, while simultaneously pouring billions into conflicts thousands of miles away. Is the 'contingency' in Minnesota more pressing than the looming crises our
foreign aid continuously fuels? Or perhaps, the American public is simply told to look one way while the real priorities are quietly, and expensively, elsewhere.
