Pentagon General Visits Gaza Monitor, Misses 35,000 Civilian Deaths

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced General CQ Brown will visit a 'Gaza monitoring center' in Israel. This comes as the US has approved billions in military aid to Israel, despite repeated warnings from international bodies about human rights violations and a death toll exceeding 35,000 Palestinians since October 7, 2023. One might question the effectiveness of 'monitoring' a crisis from

the territory of the primary actor, especially when that actor is supplied by your own government. Perhaps General Brown will be 'monitoring' the delivery of US-supplied JDAMs, which have been linked to civilian casualties in Gaza. Or maybe he’ll be reviewing the latest satellite imagery of hospitals turning into rubble, courtesy of US taxpayers. It appears the 'monitoring center' is less about

oversight and more about optics, ensuring the conveyor belt of weapons and diplomatic cover remains unobstructed – a convenient blind spot for humanitarian concerns.
