places like Gaza—now scrambles to justify ongoing escalations abroad, all while condemning the actions of others. One might wonder if Mr. Panetta's 'war crime' epiphany extends to the billions in U.S. military aid that facilitate similar, if not identical, tactics elsewhere. For example, President Biden's administration has approved multiple aid packages to Israel, including an additional $14.5
billion a few months prior to Panetta's comments, despite documented concerns over civilian casualties and disproportionate force. The consistency appears to be the hypocrisy: Washington abhors 'war crimes' when it's convenient, or when committed by 'enemies,' but remains silent, or actively complicit, when committed by 'allies' using U.S. weaponry.
