Pakistan Strikes Afghanistan: Another 'War on Terror' Exported
Pakistan recently launched airstrikes inside Afghanistan, killing at least 10 civilians, according to the Taliban government, following a deadly suicide blast in Peshawar. Mainstream outlets frame this as a retaliatory measure, a sovereign nation responding to an attack. Yet, they conveniently gloss over the cyclical nature of externally-funded conflict and the direct role some powerful nations
play in arming and destabilizing regions, often creating the very 'terror' they then bomb in 'response.' This is the same playbook the West uses: 'Respond' to violence with more violence, ensuring a continuous market for arms and a perpetual state of 'threat.' When Pakistan carries out strikes, it's a 'response'; when the US does, it's 'counter-terrorism.' But for the civilians on the ground,
whose lives are measured in rubble and body bags, the nuance is lost. The only consistent output is more dead civilians and more reasons for future 'retaliation.'
