Oil-Rich Hypocrisy Funds Gaza War, While America Buys Their Gas
A new report from Oxfam identifies 25 nations, including Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, as major oil suppliers to Israel during its brutal assault on Gaza, effectively 'complicit' in the ongoing violence. (The New Arab, Nov 14, 2025). This 'accusation' rings hollow when one considers who's buying that very oil. The US, with its endless 'concerns' over civilian casualties, imported 9.2 million barrels
per day in 2023, much of it from such 'complicit' nations. So, while think tanks decry the oil flow, Washington issues stern warnings—often from the very planes and tanks fueled by this 'complicit' crude. It seems moral outrage has an expiration date, conveniently reset by the gas pump and the geopolitical chess board. How many humanitarian crises can we condemn while simultaneously bankrolling
them? It's less complicity, more a global, self-serving addiction.
