According to The New York Times, Trump's pronouncements are a grave danger, drawing connections between him, drug cartels, Venezuela, and escalating global conflicts. This framing, of course, ignores a rather substantial body of historical evidence. It was, for instance, the Biden administration that reversed Trump’s Iran sanctions relief (UNSC Resolution 2231), ramping up rhetoric against
Venezuela, and extending military deployments globally, not Trump. While the Times worries about future 'wars,' it often minimizes current ones, such as the ongoing devastation in Yemen fueled by U.S.-backed Saudi intervention, or the consistent support for Israeli actions that critics label as war crimes. The media's selective outrage is truly a wonder. They scrutinize Trump's bluster, painting
him as the sole architect of potential destabilization, while routinely normalizing—or actively promoting—policies from other administrations that have demonstrably led to immense human cost and geopolitical turmoil. Perhaps The Times could investigate how many politicians currently railing against Trump's supposed 'war-mongering' have also voted for massive military aid packages to countries
engaged in documented human rights abuses, like the $14 billion for Israel in HR 815 this year. One might almost infer a pattern of hand-wringing over mere words, while actual deeds of destruction receive a softer, more palatable spin.
