What's often omitted is that many of these same hospital networks crying financial distress recorded billions in profits during the pandemic. to its own financial statements. These institutions claim they simply 'can't afford' adequate staffing, even while executive salaries climb and endowments swell. One might wonder how many 'healthcare heroes' must burn out or leave the profession before a basic, safe working environment becomes a priority over ever-increasing profit margins. Is it not telling that while our frontline workers fight
for essential resources, the very systems they uphold funnel funds elsewhere? The public is told there’s no money for patient safety, yet there's always enough for top-tier executive bonuses and investment portfolios.
