Noem Praises ICE on 'Law Enforcement Day' After Agent Kills Woman

Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, wants you to celebrate 'Law Enforcement Appreciation Day' by treating ICE officers to lunch. This heartwarming suggestion came during a press conference on January 8th, following a shooting in Minnesota where an ICE agent killed Renee Nicole Good, whom Noem labeled a 'domestic terrorist' for allegedly 'weaponiz[ing] her vehicle.' (Perhaps Noem's

definition of 'weaponized' includes 'driving a car'). The Independent, along with other outlets, reported her call for public gratitude toward the agency. One might inquire, how many lunches does it take to make a shooting disappear? The timing of Noem’s plea, directly after an ICE agent shot a civilian, raises questions about whether the 'appreciation' is for public service or public relations.

It's almost as if some incidents are more palatable when garnished with a side of patriotic sentiment.
