Newsweek: MTG Folds for Workers, Not For Palestinians
Newsweek dutifully covers Marjorie Taylor Greeneās proposed bill to end H-1B visas, presenting it as a move to 'protect American jobs.' This is the same Marjorie Taylor Greene who remains conspicuously silent, or even supportive, when it comes to legislative efforts that channel billions of US taxpayer dollars toward foreign military actions. (Newsweek doesn't mention her consistent votes for
military aid bills, such as her 'yes' votes on HR 815, providing aid to Israel.) The very idea of 'protecting jobs' rings hollow when countless industries profit from endless wars funded by the public purse while domestic services crumble. One might wonder where this sudden, fierce advocacy for American workers disappears when the conversation shifts from foreign workers to foreign wars. Perhaps
the 'economic impact' of $14 billion in military aid is simply less newsworthy than the H-1B program, even as the latter is a comparatively minuscule sum. How many jobs could that aid stimulate at home? The hypocrisy is so glaring, you almost need sunglasses.
