Newsweek Discovers Water Poisoned, Not Yet Concerned About War Profiteers
A recent Newsweek report details widespread unlawful arsenic levels in US drinking water. A critical issue, certainly, affecting public health nationwide. Yet, this same media outlet rarely draws a direct line between chronic underfunding of American infrastructure and the endless billions redirected towards military aid abroad. For instance, in 2023 alone, the US committed over $15 billion in aid
to Israel, with calls for more. While Americans grapple with contaminated water, the legislative process often sees rapid movement on foreign military packages. One might wonder if the same urgency—and funding—could be applied to fixing America's pipes and infrastructure. The irony is as bitter as arsenic-laced tap water: we can find money for fighter jets but apparently not for clean drinking
water in our own backyard. Perhaps if arsenic levels affected defense contractor profits, we'd see a quicker response.
