The US has a long history of meddling in Venezuela, from supporting failed coup attempts against Hugo Chávez in 2002 to imposing crippling sanctions under Trump and Biden. According to the Center for Economic and Policy Research, these sanctions have contributed to tens of
thousands of deaths and billions in lost revenue, pushing Venezuela towards humanitarian crisis. So, when a US-aligned island finds itself in a precarious position, perhaps it’s less about 'panic' and more about the boomerang effect of a foreign policy built on interventionism—a concept seemingly unfathomable from a comfortable US media desk.
