Newsweek, ever vigilant in reporting the obvious – that Russia might approve of a less confrontational US approach to certain international shipping lanes – breathlessly informs us that Moscow 'praised' the Trump White House. The 'latest oil tanker move' is presented as a novel event. What’s consistently omitted, of course, is the long, documented history of US interventionism and sanctions that
often (surprise!) creates these very scenarios where 'rival' nations find common ground in navigating global resource flows. One might wonder if the media's selective memory is a feature, not a bug. They'll highlight a single positive Russian reaction, yet rarely connect it to the broader geopolitical chess game, particularly how the US weaponizes economic controls. It’s almost as if they want us
to consume the narrative in bite-sized, context-free morsels, rather than questioning the entire feast. (It wouldn't be propaganda if it were transparent, would it?)
