This wasn't merely a business transaction; it was described by Reuters on 12/18/2023, the date of the Independent's article's publication, as 'expected to help cement growing ties between Israel
and Arab countries.' Meanwhile, just a few days later, on January 2nd, 2024, the UN reported that 85% of Gaza's population was internally displaced, facing catastrophic conditions with severely limited access to food, water, and electricity. The irony of this 'stability' deal powering Egypt while Gaza is systematically de-energized is almost too perfect. Perhaps 'stability' means ensuring regional
energy dominance for Israel, effectively leveraging its offshore gas fields as a geopolitical weapon. When Netanyahu speaks of securing 'stability,' it appears to be the stability of Israeli economic and military objectives, not the stability of human dignity or the right to self-determination for Palestinians.
