Netanyahu, according to The Hill, is threatening 'forceful' strikes in Gaza again, potentially breaking a ceasefire. 'Threatening' is an interesting verb for repeated actions. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government has ordered 'forceful' operations against Palestinians, or threatened to, countless times: during the 2008-09 Gaza War (Operation Cast Lead), 2012 (Operation Pillar of Defense), 2014
(Operation Protective Edge), and 2021 (Operation Guardian of the Walls). Each time, the 'forceful' actions resulted in thousands of Palestinian civilian casualties. This isn't a 'threat' in the conventional sense; it's a policy repeated with grim predictability. The context missing is that a 'ceasefire' for Gaza often means a temporary cessation of the most overt violence, not an end to the siege,
occupation, or grinding humanitarian crisis. When will the media pivot from reporting these cyclical escalations as 'breaking news' to recognizing them as chronic features of occupation?
