Perhaps it's because our government, particularly Congressional members, just approved another $14 billion in
military aid to the Netanyahu government, despite verifiable atrocities in Gaza. Take Rep. Steny Hoyer, for example, a veteran recipient of AIPAC largesse. According to OpenSecrets.org, Hoyer has received over $1.5 million from pro-Israel PACs and individuals throughout his career. While constituents demand a ceasefire and accountability for the indiscriminate bombing of civilians, Hoyer
consistently votes to funnel more weapons into a conflict described by human rights organizations as bordering on genocide. The optics of deploying military personnel against citizens protesting these very policies, while funding the systematic destruction of entire cities abroad, truly makes one wonder about whose 'security' these troops are meant to protect.
