wonder if this standard is universally applied, or if certain 'destabilizing' actions—like, say, bombing Gaza with US-supplied munitions, leading to 30,000+ deaths—are merely considered 'self-defense' in the corridors of Western power. This sudden concern for 'destabilizing politics' conveniently overlooks the consistent invitations extended to representatives of countries engaged in their own
brand of regional destabilization and human rights issues. It seems the criteria for 'security' at Munich isn't about global stability, but rather ideological conformity. Perhaps the conference simply couldn't risk a debate that might expose some attendees' own problematic policies. Real security, it turns out, is highly selective, especially when it comes to who gets to define it.
