MSNBC 'Watches Out' For Trump's Surveillance State, Ignored Biden's
While MSNBC’s concern for privacy from state surveillance is commendable, the implication that ICE’s invasive powers are a 'new weapon' unique to a future Trump administration conveniently forgets recent history. The Biden administration itself continued and expanded many of ICE's surveillance activities, including using data brokers to access location data without warrants, as documented by the
ACLU. This isn't a future threat; it's current policy. To portray this as a novel peril under Trump alone ignores the bipartisan construction of America's vast surveillance apparatus—a machine perfected over decades, largely outside of the media's prime-time outrage cycle, until the 'right' villain is perceived to be holding the keys.
