MSNBC breathlessly informs us about 'What Trump learned from Hungary,' analyzing Orbán's playbook for weakening democratic institutions, as reported in their news analysis (msnbc.com). This framing allows them to wag a finger at a far-off threat while completely ignoring the blueprints for consolidating power being drafted and deployed by domestic political forces—many with ties closer to home,

and funded by very local, very American dollars. Perhaps MSNBC could investigate what their own endorsed politicians 'learned' from the decades-long project of gutting social safety nets, crushing labor unions, and expanding corporate power. Or how about the money funneling through organizations like AIPAC, which OpenSecrets.org reports spent $4.2 million lobbying in 2023 alone, ensuring US policy

aligns with foreign interests. Is that not also a blueprint for 'authoritarian' control, albeit one dressed in a suit and tie? How many warnings about 'democracy dying in darkness' do we need when the light is deliberately being filtered?
