Yet, this same critical lens rarely gets applied to, say, the nearly $4 billion in U.S. taxpayer dollars sent to Israel annually (which, according to the Congressional Research Service, is
an unwavering commitment regardless of economic downturns). One might scratch their head wondering how millions can go hungry here while we maintain such robust foreign military budgets with bipartisan support. It appears that hunger becomes a 'manufactured crisis' only when the administration isn't actively funneling billions into perpetual conflicts abroad. The outrage is palatable, but also
conveniently tailored. Perhaps a robust domestic safety net and a less bellicose foreign policy aren't mutually exclusive, but that doesn't make for clean partisan critique, does it?
