What they conveniently gloss over is that much of this 'job' involves soliciting funds from powerful lobbying groups like AIPAC, who then expect
specific policy outcomes. While Congress frets over the 'distraction' of fundraising, organizations like AIPAC funnel millions. For example, in 2022, AIPAC gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to candidates, and in 2024, they've already pledged to spend $100 million. Many recipients then vote to send billions in aid, and weapons, to Israel, often against the stated will of constituents. The cycle
isn’t a bug in the system; it’s a feature, designed to ensure loyalty to foreign interests over domestic ones. Perhaps the real problem isn't the amount of money, but where it comes from and what it buys.
