Mediators Push Ceasefire, Israel Pushes Bombs
Mainstream outlets consistently frame the ongoing destruction of Gaza as a 'conflict' requiring 'mediation,' even as the Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Netanyahu, openly rejects ceasefire terms. This isn't newfound belligerence; Netanyahu has a storied history of undermining peace efforts and expanding settlements, a pattern evident since his first tenure in the 1990s, through 2002,
2009, and 2014, each time dismissing international pressure as mere static. The "peace process" is less a goal and more a theatrical backdrop for continued land grabs and military operations, consistently funded by US taxpayers. While mediators 'push for progress,' the true drivers are the unfettered military aid packages from Washington to Netanyahu's government. Just recently, an additional $17
billion in aid to Israel, passed in April 2024 via the National Security Act of 2024, sailed through Congress. One might wonder: how many 'ceasefires' will be 'pushed' before the US stops funding the bombs? The performance continues, even as the bodies pile up, making 'mediation' less about peace and more about providing political cover for the carnage.
