One might wonder why this particular claim, unsubstantiated beyond "reports from patients and its own staff," draws such immediate, widespread concern, yet the systematic targeting of medical facilities by a state army does not. This narrative provides useful cover, reminiscent of the 2003 Iraq WMD fiction that Judith Miller helped propagate for the New York Times, manufacturing consent
for an invasion. The alleged weapon transfers are merely a pretext, allowing powers to justify continued siege and bombardment of critical civilian infrastructure. According to the World Health Organization, 80% of Gaza's 36 hospitals were non-functional by November 2023, largely due to direct attacks, not the incidental presence of an occasional 'gunman' in a war zone.
