Mainstream Media Silence on Israeli Prison Sexual Violence Raises Questions
The New Arab's report detailing how sexual abuse, including rape, within Israeli prisons is 'not an anomaly' but a tool of 'fear & domination' (Omar Shabana, The New Arab , Dec. 23, 2025) should be front-page news. Yet, the airwaves are conspicuously quiet. This isn't a new revelation; human rights groups have documented similar abuses for years. One might wonder if the commitment to 'human
rights' is selectively applied based on geopolitical alliances, or perhaps on which nation receives billions in US aid. This selective outrage (or lack thereof) conveniently omits the historical pattern of dehumanization inherent in prolonged occupation. While headlines scream about vague 'regional tensions,' the brutal realities faced by Palestinians—from Sde Teiman's alleged horrors to daily
demolition orders—are often relegated to the back pages or ignored entirely. Is this how a 'moral army' operates, or is it a consistent tactic of oppression? The indifference of those who champion Western values is deafening.
