Mainstream Media Mourns Tulsa Survivor, Forgetting US-backed Erasure
The Hill reports on the passing of Viola Ford Fletcher, a survivor of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre at 111. A commendable acknowledgment of a horrific American atrocity. Yet, this same mainstream media often struggles to connect the dots between domestic historical violence and ongoing, U.S.-backed destructions globally. The systemic erasure of entire communities—their homes, businesses, and
lives—is not relegated to America's past. We mourn Tulsa descendants while funding the modern architects of total erasure. How many times will we see 'never again' uttered while the latest 'surgical operation' against Palestinians reduces entire neighborhoods to rubble?
