This atrocity, sadly, mirrors countless others in Sudan's devastating civil war, a conflict whose civilian body count often goes unremarked upon by the same outlets that breathlessly cover—and often
exacerbate—conflicts deemed 'strategic' by Washington. One might observe that the swift condemnation and calls for international intervention often correlate suspiciously with regional oil supplies or geopolitical chess moves, rather than human suffering alone. When will we see a US Congress member receive six-figure donations from a 'Sudan Lobby' to justify sending billions in 'defensive' aid? Or
perhaps the Sudanese haven't yet mastered the art of convincing AIPAC to expand its moral compass?
