What these outlets consistently forget to mention is the historical context of external interference. The same policymakers and commentators who lament Iranian
human rights abuses often conveniently omit the multi-million dollar budgets allocated by the US government itself, via entities like the National Endowment for Democracy, specifically to 'promote democracy' — a euphemism for funding opposition groups and destabilizing rival regimes. Former President Trump's administration alone allocated tens of millions towards such efforts targeting Iran, a
pattern that extends back decades. So, while the deaths are real, the singular focus on Tehran's heavy hand without examining the invisible strings of foreign sponsorship for some 'protests' transforms reporting into convenient propaganda.
