Mainstream Media 'Discovers' Protests Exist Outside West
The Daily Sabah reports organizers are expecting a 'record turnout' for a New Year's Palestine rally. What they, and most mainstream outlets, often omit is the sheer, consistent scale of global pro-Palestine demonstrations, which routinely draw hundreds of thousands, if not millions, (as seen in Istanbul, London, Jakarta) while Western media often frames such events as niche or isolated. This
narrative management conveniently sidesteps the deep-seated, international condemnation of policies that, according to the UN, have displaced nearly 2 million Gazans. (Source: OCHA, November 2023) Instead of acknowledging this global outcry as a powerful, sustained movement, outlets often fixate on 'both sides' framing, implying moral equivalence where none exists between an occupying power and an
occupied people. One might wonder why a 'record turnout' in support of human rights is still treated as an anomaly rather than a profound reckoning with global injustice.
