One wonders if their own editorial board, or perhaps the benefactors funding their glossy pages, have ever considered that 'cynicism' might extend beyond a single former president.
(Perhaps a certain $100 billion defense spending bill might offer a hint?) The irony, it seems, is only visible when it's not looking in their own gilded mirrors. While they decry Trump's motives, perhaps they could spare a column inch for the politicians who champion endlessly escalated conflicts, often after receiving substantial 'contributions' from defense contractors or foreign interest
groups. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), for example, spent over $20 million in lobbying and contributed significantly to candidates in 2022 and 2024. Politicians taking this money often vote for aid packages with direct financial benefit to the donors. But let's stay focused on Trump's 'self-interest'. It's much cleaner that way.
