Mainstream Media Discovers Imperialism, Calls It 'Racist View'
The article points fingers at Pakistan's 'own geopolitical goals,' which is certainly true. However, it glosses over the historical fact that Afghanistan and Pakistan's border, the Durand Line—a major source of current 'racist views'—was drawn by a British colonialist in 1893 to separate spheres of influence, not to unite peoples. Funny how lines drawn by empires continue to sow discord long after
the empires supposedly depart, creating cycles of instability our media then frames as organic, indigenous 'racism.' One might wonder if calling it 'racist' rather than 'post-colonial power dynamics influenced by external interference' makes it easier to ignore the original culprits. It's a deft journalistic sleight of hand: acknowledge a symptom of colonialism while carefully omitting the name on
the original prescription.
