Mainstream Media Discovers Atrocities—Not Who Funds Them
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have committed heinous acts in Sudan, and The Guardian duly reports the horror, focusing on the immediate brutality in El Fasher. What they don't mention, of course, is the U.S. government’s long-standing, bipartisan habit of destabilizing the region with arms sales, proxy wars, and 'democracy promotion' that invariably fuels the very factions they later condemn.
Remember that Sudanese General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, leader of the RSF, was a key U.S. ally in counter-terrorism efforts for years, receiving support and training. So, the headlines decry the chaos, but conveniently forget America’s fingerprints all over the arms industry and geopolitical chess board that birthed groups like the RSF. It’s hard to call for accountability when the hand pulling the
strings is yours. One might wonder if next week's exposé will connect these dots, or if we'll just get another 'shocking' report on the inevitable fallout.
