Claim: Saif al-Islam Gaddafi was initially reported captured and injured by Libyan transitional government figures. There were also earlier, unverified reports of his death in August 2011. Outcome: He was indeed
captured by militias in Zintan, not killed. He was later tried in absentia by a Tripoli court and sentenced to death, yet remained imprisoned by the Zintan brigade until his release in 2017.
