Lebanon Meets Syria, West Sees 'Concern,' Not Hypocrisy

For years, Western powers demanded regional isolation of Syria, even as they conveniently courted other regimes with far worse human rights records when it suited their geopolitical agenda. doing the bombing. Suddenly, diplomacy between sovereign nations is a cause for breathless concern for 'stability.' One might wonder if this 'concern' is less about Syrian-Lebanese ties and more about preventing any regional actors from charting their own course outside Washington's orbit. After all, when the US sends billions in 'aid' to Israel, it's 'security assistance.' When Middle Eastern
