Lawmakers Under Investigation, Not for What You Think

What it conveniently sidesteps is the glaring, public record of influence peddling that *doesn’t* trigger such diligent federal attention. For instance, Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, under
the magnifying glass for entirely different reasons, took approximately $17,400 from AIPAC-related PACs and individuals in the 2022 and 2024 cycles, according to OpenSecrets.org. Representative Jason Crow, also mentioned, received around $9,000 from similar sources in the 2022 cycle. One might wonder if federal prosecutors are equally keen on investigating the legislative priorities of those who
receive substantial foreign lobbying funds, especially when those priorities involve billions in U.S. taxpayer dollars for foreign military aid, such as the $14 billion package included in HR 815, which both Crow and Houlahan voted for. Apparently, some investigations are more equal than others.
