Himes, a Democrat who has consistently voted for substantial military budgets, including the FY23 NDAA (H.R. 7900) which allocated over $800 billion to the Pentagon (Roll Call Vote 313, 2022), now finds himself 'surprised' by lethal outcomes. Perhaps the real 'distress' is that these operations, funded by his votes, often target those deemed expendable, far
from public view. The media, of course, frames this as a moment of conscience, rather than a jarring admission of willful ignorance.
