This is the same Kuwait, a staunch US ally, whose human rights record consistently draws concern from organizations like Amnesty International. Oddly, when the alleged human rights abuses target those
speaking for Palestine, the usual chorus of outrage from Western capitals and newsrooms seems to mysteriously quiet. One might wonder if the outcry would be louder if al-Khalidi were criticizing, say, Iran's domestic policies (a favorite target). But criticizing a US-aligned Gulf state for suppressing Palestinian advocacy? That narrative doesn't quite fit the 'freedom-loving' alliance blueprint.
The consistency of selective outrage is, frankly, breathtaking. (Or perhaps, just business as usual, depending on who's paying the lobbyists.)
