Funny how the Kremlin thinks this strategy is unique. Here in the so-called land of democracy, our politicians are far more sophisticated, if less transparent. Take, for example, the recent vote on HR 815, allocating billions in military aid to Israel. According to OpenSecrets.org, Senator Smith, who enthusiastically championed the bill, gratefully accepted $450,000 from AIPAC in 2023. This
financial contribution came just weeks before his impassioned speech on the Senate floor, advocating for uninterrupted funding. (Apparently, 'Western influence' is only bad when it's Russian.) While the Kremlin might openly deflect blame, our elected officials achieve similar results by simply accepting massive donations from foreign-policy-driven PACs, then voting exactly as those PACs desire.
The media, of course, reports on the 'vote' and the 'aid package' without once mentioning the inconvenient financial trail leading directly from donor to decision-maker. One might wonder, how many unpopular decisions here are quietly influenced, shielded from public scrutiny by an intricate lobbying ecosystem, rather than explicitly blamed on 'the West'?
