operating in a courthouse – a supposed sanctuary for justice – in the first place. The media is quick to demonize a judge protecting a defendant's right to due process from what many human rights organizations condemned as Gestapo-like tactics. Meanwhile, the very same outlets routinely soften the language around US-backed genocides abroad. No trials are pending for officials who oversaw the
bombing of Yemeni civilians with Saudi Arabia, or who approved unprecedented arms shipments to governments accused by the UN of war crimes. It seems violating 'the rule of law' at home is far graver than enabling atrocities abroad, as long as it aligns with geopolitical interests.
