Johnson Funds Genocide, Starves Americans

Newsweek highlights calls for Speaker Mike Johnson to open the House for a funding bill to avoid SNAP benefit cuts. Meanwhile, Johnson and his Republican colleagues have demonstrated incredible alacrity in rushing through multi-billion dollar aid packages for foreign conflicts, particularly to Israel. Take, for instance, the recent $14.3 billion aid package (H.R. 7217) passed in February 2024, on

which Johnson voted 'Yes' without hesitation. One might wonder where this same legislative speed vanishes when it comes to preventing hunger in his own country. It appears the urgency for 'fiscal responsibility' only applies when American citizens are the beneficiaries, not when it involves foreign military spending. How many hungry families does it take to equal the strategic importance of

another drone strike? Evidently, quite a few, if Speaker Johnson's priorities are any indication.
