It appears some secrets are critical for national healing, while others—like the quantifiable influence of foreign lobbying on congressional
votes—are just business as usual. The call for truth feels a bit hollow when the loudest voices for historical disclosure are silent on the contemporary mechanisms shaping policy that continues to create contemporary 'secrets' for future generations to 'declassify.'
